The Colour of Love

True colours

Though the heart is red,

of which pumps blood through our veins,

causing chemical reactions,

for when we see someone with such beauty,

I feel as though love is depicted as red,

when it should be as blue.

Blue is our oceans,

our skies.

Beautiful and never ending,

just as love should be.

Red is but the blood of our enemies,

the dead, the fallen.

Blue should be seen as the colour of love.

Bright and full of life.

We seek someone to love,

for whom we'd cross oceans for,

soar the skies for.

Is it that richness of red,

that drowns us in the sorrows of a loved one?

And so,

Is it a blue kind of love,

That will lead us to an eternal state of

ecstacy.

Authors note: Hey there! Isobel here. Here is my depiction on the colour of love. But what about you? What colour most describes that feeling of love to you? I would love to hear your thoughts on my poem, so feel free to contact me on my Facebook! @Isobel Ackerman
