The memories of your babyhood always bring me joy,
Every little step, every little milestone;
Always a precious memory to cherish forever.
Your 'blankey' was blue.
I remember;
You always called it that.
'Blankey' was comfort to you, for those lonely nights when
you wouldn't go to bed,
You were scared of me leaving you, and you wouldn't rest
your weary head!
Aaah!
How those days were sweeter than any rose that grew in our garden,
How I truly miss them.
The day they took you;
Tears fell forever,
"Remember, I will always love you," I said as I tried hard not to break,
As I walked away.
I had no choice;
Those evil people pulled their order out on me,
Criminalising me for being unwell,
Punishing me for things I never did, and for things I didn't
deserve to happen.
Splash! splash! splash!
"Bath time, now!"
"Don't forget ducky!"
You'd never bathe without ducky. You loved bathtime,
And you smelt so good after a bath;
Oh!
How I miss those days.
We used to own a caravan, and we holidayed often,
We always took blankey with us,
You wouldn't sleep without it.
I can still see you with your brother,
Staring outside of the caravan window,
Listening to the thunder and watching the lightning,
Laughing at us when we told you to come away.
You loved Chocolate and Vanilla Donuts for breakfast,
We used to get them from the shop on the caravan site;
Do you remember?
I hope that you do.
We'd go to the club on site every night,
And you would join your sisters in sitting by the front of
the stage,
"Look, Mummy! It's Rory!"
You'd shout,
And afterwards, you'd all insist on burgers or pizza for tea.
You got more love than you will ever know,
Regardless of what they told you;
All of your memories are snuggled safe in my little
photograph story book,
Something your dad bought me for my birthday,
And;
Something to be treasured forever.
I have the pictures,
You know?
The ones you drew me when you were at nursery.
My,
dear, sweet, little boy;
Now, you are eighteen years old, and I haven't seen you
since you were four;
But I hold on to hope,
A true mothers love doesn't stop no matter where her children are now,
Until then,
We will always remember;
The colour blue.
I will always love you,
And;
Those were my sweetest days,
With you.
