The Colors of Death

Poem

Yellow hair, green eyes

What a beautiful little surprise

Olive skin, round face

Tiny body wrapped in lace

Blue skin, something is wrong

Why is her breath gone?

Rush for help, someone to care

For what is broken beyond repair

White flowers cover the grave

A sea of black, a cold dark wave

Pink roses and a fuschia gown

Broken earth in shades of brown

Orange leaves float down softly

On soil churned like coffee

Tints of purple in the mist

Mother and Father pray and wish

As Heaven and earth mourn

For the girl who was just born

Rain pours around them all

Have you ever seen a coffin so small?
