The Cloak

The magic of hiding

She wears her pain inside a cloak

Never wanting to reveal

The sadness that she holds inside

The way it makes her feel.

That cloak is her protection

From all that is dark and black

It’s magic does surround her

When she feels under attack.

Between the pain and sadness

There lives a very fine line

One she crosses often

She believes it’s life's design.

She hides her true emotions

When she takes on way too much

When it feels way too heavy

She gives her cloak a touch.

It’s magic makes her feel

Like she could live another day

Without the pain and sadness

That it’s power hides away.

It’s true that she can heal

With just a single touch

But when it comes to HER pain

Well then it’s way too much.

She whispers to the universe

“Please take this all away”

But no answer is ever spoken

So her cloak will have to stay.

She will use it on the bad days

On the good days too

Until she finds the answer

Of exactly what to do.

For now that cloak will shield her

It’s powers are that strong

It will take away the darkness

That she’s hidden for so long.

She wears her pain inside a cloak

She’s seen without it never

Some day she will remove it

For these feelings won’t last forever.
