The Cleansing Burn
Sometimes Death Comes First
I got lost in the hurt
Gave away my desire
And when the ashes were burnt
I extinguished the fire
Convinced the lesson was learned
I demolished the pyre
Bearing these battles scars, earned
I learned to disguise desire
You used my heart as a flint
to ignite a spark
Leaving an imprint
directions out of the dark
Working my way through this maze
trying desperately to save face
Learning to exinite a blaze
to this dark lonely place
But the tinder is ruined
there is no life left to save
My spirit is burned
these ashes serve as my grave
Until the wind stirs again
revealing lightning in my eyes
A fire burns deep within
flashing like flames in the sky
