The Chapter I Never Wrote

Celebrating the unwritten words of gratitude for my mother’s timeless love.

By DavescalesPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read
A mother holding her child

Today, I hold the pen once more,

To script the words I should’ve before.

Each line a whisper, soft and true,

A melody sung, just for you.

Your hands, the map of all you’ve done,

Each wrinkle earned beneath the sun.

A life of giving, love unbound,

In every step, your grace is found.

The mornings blurred with quiet care,

The nights you stayed, just being there.

Yet time moved fast, I often missed,

The simple moments, the fleeting bliss.

So on this day, as candles glow,

And years gone by begin to show,

I write a chapter, deep and vast,

Of love unspoken in the past.

For every laugh, for every tear,

For wisdom shared year after year,

This book of mine is not complete,

Without your heart, its steady beat.

Today, I thank you, word by word,

For lessons lived and dreams deferred.

Your birthday marks another page,

A timeless story, age to age.

So here’s to you, with all my heart,

The truest work, my finest art.

This chapter now, for you alone,

A love that’s endless, carved in stone.
