The Candle Spell
I wish it had all been a dream but it isn’t it’s too late

The Candle Spell
I lit the candle, wished for love,
And trusted what I felt above,
I never knew what lay behind,
Or what this spell would leave to find.
The spell brought love, it felt so true,
I gave my heart completely to you,
I thought it would last till the end of time,
I never knew you already had a life entwined.
You had a wife, your children’s mother,
She was your world, there was no other,
I never knew what I had walked into,
I never knew the pain my wish would do.
Another woman lost her life,
When love and truth became a knife,
And though I never meant this pain,
I opened a box of darkness and pain.
Now my whole world is upside down,
I carry the guilt that follows me around,
I only wished for love that night,
Never knowing it could cost a life.
How do I live with this every day,
Knowing my wish helped start this way?
I never wished for tears or pain,
I only wished for love to remain.
I cannot turn the clock back now,
Or change the words, or ask it how,
I have to live with what came true,
And wonder what my candle put us through.
The flame still flickers, the shadows remain,
And every memory brings back the pain,
I wanted love, so pure and bright,
But opened darkness with that light.
How do I live this for eternity,
With all this guilt inside of me?
A simple wish was all I made,
But look at the price that wish has paid.
