The Calming Of The Sea

I Didn't Say That, I Never Say Anything

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

I speak the most, internally, when furious or downcast

I mumble and murmur savagely, resentments, underneath my breath

Declarations of power or demise, running like desperate want ads

for needed changes to come, but they have not happened yet

For, when the emotion has been expelled, my sanity returns

and I gather up the strength to keep it here, inside

With all my feelings in control, I can minimize the hurt

I breath again and the need to scream, subsides

My silence is a simple way of containing all the rage

for the things that words can never change

To to keep my mouth from spilling, making me feel deranged

I choose to take a breath and calmly rearrange
