The Call Of The Wild

It's 5:30 in the morning.

That's when her eyes begin to flutter.

Her toes start to wiggle.

She begins to feel the breeze sneak it's way through the sheets-

As if the mountain peak that surrounds this cabin whispers of company -

She hears the creaky windows of that old cabin gently sway back and forth.

The rhythmic nature of the creak leaves her ears perked .

She wakes up and shuffles her way to the kitchenette where her loyal coffee mug awaits.

The fresh brew's scent mingles with that of the outside oak.

The warmth of the first sip hugs the chill of her body.

It awakens her rested mind.

As she begins to come to, she knows today is the day.

The day she reaches that peak that embodies all that Mother Nature is-

Grace and Strength.

Stillness and Fluidity.

Silence and Roars.

Calmness and Fear.

The list goes on.

The beautiful dichotomy that she yearns to become.

She ties the worn laces on her rugged shoes that have accompanied her on every journey.

Today -

Today she heads to the peak with confidence that after she reaches her bliss, she will return to this cabin.

The cabin that will house her drawn bath right next to those wide open windows.

For those windows will let the sun in.

And those rays of sun..

They’ll ever so softly.

Ever so courtly.

Tickle the bareness of her body.

Illuminate the complexion of her skin.

It's in that moment. In these moments. She surrenders.
