The Boy On The Bus

a poem about love at first sight

My head rests on the window of an uncrowded bus

I notice the sky is painted in a navy shade of blue,

I notice that this bus moves in the greyest hue.

But the second he walks into the bus,

a vibrant filter sweeps in, leaving no dust.

A surge of colour fills this empty space,

I was in love before I could even see his face.

From across the bus, my eyes meet his for a moment,

and the moment after is spent in sweet reminiscence,

How could two strangers be so aware of each others presence.

How can this transpire within a millisecond.

How could holding my breath feel so pleasant.

Alas, in that empty bus, he sits beside me.

We sit in sweet silence,

A smile that has been longing to reach my lips is finally set free.

A grateful captive indeed.
