The Boy

'In his element'

By Humphrey KayePublished 2 years ago 1 min read

The little boy lost in his room, surrounded by stuffed animals.

His first real friends.

What adventures will he have today?

Hours upon hours he laid inventing plot after plot.

A little boy in his element.

The teenage boy lost in his room, stuffed animals now gone.

He has abandoned his first real friends.

What adventures will he have today?

Hours upon hours he laid staring at his crush's picture.

A teenage boy in his element.

The college grad lost in his room, crush now gone.

His crush now a thing of the past.

What adventures will he have today?

Hours upon hours he laid looking for jobs.

A college grad in his element.

The adult man lost in his room, job now gone.

His job a thing of the past.

What adventures will he have today?

Hours upon hours he laid looking for himself.

A package he opens, and a stuffed animal he finds.

Hugging it for dear life, he finds himself.

A little boy in his element.
