The bird

A poem

Within the confines of her wings,

Lies a quiver to unravel and release.

Bound by the stipulation required to maintain peace,

She continues to suppress the bird, yearning to fly free.

She resentfully listens and agrees

To those who suggest she surrender and stop trying to break free.

Yet she still can’t feel at ease,

Knowing that she isn’t being true to her uncontainable reverie.

In the midst of her derailed aspirations,

a flame kindles the lock to her extinguished motivation.

A fire flourishes and awakens;

A desire to fight the impediment

squashing her into regulation.

She fights with the very string

That had secured her unmoving limbs

And untangles her eager wings.

Off she flies into the sunset of undying liberation,

Twirling in the light of immense exhilaration.
