The Beauty In the Forest
The Forest Nymph
She walks in beauty
Mother earth her home.
Caring for nature, her duty
Though she is far from alone.
She is friends with the faun
The faeries, her kin.
She's in love with the dawn,
And the caress of the wind.
She sleeps in the moss
And rises with the dew
She protects from chaos
A Beauty seen by few
The smell of the earth
The feel of the grass.
Her home since her birth
Forever it will last.
Her heart is the forest
Her spirit the sky.
She faces the torrent
And holds her head high.
She walks in beauty
Never alone.
Loving the forest her duty.
Mother earth, her home.

Spectating
I can't imagine dying like this, in a place like this; on a cold, dirty pavement with rush hour traffic screaming by and a crowd looking on while paramedics struggle to find space to move. Who could? Deep down we all think there should be a reason, a moment of clarity... or a family presence, at least. For this man, this boy, the rail thin woman lighting a cigarette in a faux fur jacket will have to do - she's been here since the start, her eyes tracking the movement of my shoulders as we fight to keep him on the right side of the line.
