The Ballad of a Patient Groupie
A Villanelle
I shall now love the lasts of you
As summer wilds have flown away
This will be a sweet adieu
**
A life more lived there are but few
Your moth flame flickers to decay
I shall now love the lasts of you
**
What burned bright has sealed us two
In lost smoulders of yesterday
This will be a sweet adieu
**
For without the means to renew
Or opportunity to stray
I shall now love the lasts of you
**
Looking back, my love, you knew
Yet still, my love, did you betray
This will be a sweet adieu
**
Paid for in kind. A love in lieu.
My patient heart has seized the day
I shall now love the lasts of you
This will be a sweet adieu.

I hadn't hearted but had commented, wonderful villanelle
A beautiful Villanelle! Kudos!
This poem is GORGEOUS. You immediately won my heart with the first "This will be the sweetest adieu" - I am a sucker for certain words, "adieu" is simply mesmerizing. I love the way this poem repeats, like a song. Very well done! Hearted and subscribed. :)
