The Anatomy of Us
Your affection cuts into me,
a specialist with a consistent hand,
the surgical blade plunged in moonlight,
slicing through ligament and soul.
Each touch, a fastidious entry point,
each kiss, a stitch,
restricting me nearer to the edge
of this delicate frenzy.

Your eyes, liquid pools of noon,
bring me into their profundities,
a gravity well I can't get away,
nor do I wish to.
They see the breaks in my soul,
furthermore, with a sweetheart's elegance,
you make mosaics of my broken pieces.

In the peaceful hours,
at the point when the world is a far-off murmur,
I feel the beat of your heart
sync with mine,
a musicality of presence,
a beat that pronounces we are here,
together, relentless.

Your voice, a song of pre-winter leaves,
murmurs insider facts to my bones,
scratching guarantees into my marrow,
commitments until the end of time,
commitments of fights battled next to each other,
commitments of scars that recount our story.

What's more, however, dread moves on the edges
of our delicate mankind,
however question gleams like a candle
in the tempest,
we stand, interweaved,
disobedient against the murkiness,
our adoration a reference point,
a beacon in the whirlwind.

For your purposes, my affection,
are the blood in my veins,
the breath in my lungs,
the fire that lights the center of my being.
With you, I'm entirety,
with you, I'm boundless,
with you, I'm home.
