Remember that night I laid next to you in the dark?

My head nestled in the crook of your arm...

you traced the edge of my ribs

with your fingertips

on that tender spot

where I once rested my hand as a kid

I used to imagine someone holding me

I yearned for the comfort of Sacred Touch

Sleepless nights in a desolate space

A heart that ached for tenderness & nourishment

A vigilant mind beyond its years

Silent cries that yielded no tears

Then your hand grazed across that healing place

a single tear streamed down my face

and if ever asked to describe its taste

I'd say bittersweet, with a hint of grace.
