That Phone Call

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

Around and around and around it goes.

For a moment, I thought it would get better. That I had finally found a new normal.

Guess that doesn’t work in this life.

One phone call changes everything.

Every. Single. Time…

For months the truth has been hidden from me and I can’t blame the lies.

Doesn’t mean they don’t hurt the same.

That call opens the floods of memories, laughs, and joy,

but it also brings about the realization that new memories might not happen again.

A goodbye might be near.

Every year is a new hello and an awful goodbye.

It’s a disease and I can’t stand it.

Cancer.
