Get together to smile and enjoy, eat, and laugh with the people you love. Do you kiss girls and declare that they are becoming more beautiful day by day?

A little chit-chat and bragging with the men got the old family circle back to health and old-fashioned happiness, just for a little while at the end of the year.

Greetings fly by as we crowd the door. And under the old roof, we gathered once again.

Just like we did when the kids were little, mommy's gone a little gray, that's all.

The father is a little older, but still willing and ready to have fun and laugh. Here we are back at the table again. Telling our stories as women and men.

Our heads are bowed for a moment in prayer. Oh, but we're grateful and happy to be there.

Home from the land of the east and home from the west, home with those who are dearest and best.

We have come a long way to shed the pretense of distant cities and become who we are.

Here we can talk about ourselves and be honest, forgetting the situation, station, and title.

Tell me at the end of the year, and it's fun. When most of the planning and hard work is complete, bring all the stray animals home to the nest.

Let me sit with the people I like the most. Hear the old voices still playing with the songs.

Look at the old faces unblemished by mistake; look at the old table with all its chairs. I will pour out my soul in my Thanksgiving prayers.
