Tenebris et Lux
Eclipse of the Heart
Tenebris et Lux Charm by M.K. Brackett April 13, 2024
Enraptured by your smile, I lost myself, blinded, enthralled,
Concealed behind your mask, the monster hidden, your soft voice called.
Like Dr. Jekyll you lured me into your lovers’ trap with a velvet glove
Innocent whispers of support and kindness, honeyed professions of love,
Promises of fidelity, the lies of Mr. Hyde, bought by eternity in a golden band.
Serpent tongued angel; I learned too late the price of taking your hand.
Eclipsed by your dark love, I found in your shadow, hope for the light.

I’ve only heard of the musical Jekyll and Hyde. Your poem has peaked my interest enough that I’ll check it out. Congrats on Top Story!
This poem is a WOW! Jeckyl and Hyde, and this sentence is unique and powerful: Serpent tongued angel - loved your poem.
This is great! Good luck in the challenge!
