Temporary Romance

You don't need to love me anymore.

You don't need to love me like before.

Just remember what we had as a dream.

One day you'll meet someone better than me

and I'll be just a distant memory.

And even if we didn't last forever,

even if we're not together,

I'll always think of you,

always remember you,

always miss you.

You don't need to love me anymore.

You don't need to love me like before.

All I ask is that you may live fulfillingly.

Angrily and sadly and happily

but sincerely.

I treasure the time we had,

though it often makes me sad.

I'll be thankful for the chance I had,

to have pursued our temporary romance.

Though it didn't last,

remember these words of mine,

so we don't regret our past.

You don't need to love me anymore.

You don't need to love me like before.

If loving me pains you,

then one thing is true,

we were never meant to be.

I'm not part of your destiny.

This isn't the end,

you can start again,

you can be happy once again.

Whenever that may be,

for now, you don't have to love me.
