Tell Me A Story About True Love
The memories of you and I

Tell Me A Story About True Love
Tell me a story about true love,
One that never walked away,
One that stayed through every storm,
And chose me every day.
Tell me about two people,
Who grew older hand in hand,
Who sometimes never had the answers,
But somehow understood.
Tell me how he held her,
When her tears began to fall,
How she knew without him saying,
He would catch her through it all.
Tell me about the arguments,
The silly things they said,
Then how they lay there laughing,
On opposite sides of the bed.
Tell me about the mornings,
When her hair was all a mess,
And he still looked across at her,
And thought that she was beautiful.
Tell me about the hard times,
When money disappeared,
When life became uncertain,
And tomorrow became feared.
Did he still reach out and hold her?
Did she still whisper his name?
Did love become much stronger,
When nothing stayed the same?
Tell me about their children,
And the years that hurried by,
The birthdays and the Christmases,
The hellos and the goodbyes.
Tell me how their hands changed,
How their faces gathered lines,
How photographs upon the wall,
Became memories of their lives.
Tell me when they both grew old,
Did he still kiss her goodnight?
Did she still reach across the bed,
To make sure he was alright?
Because true love is not perfection,
It is staying when things go wrong,
It is knowing where you belong,
When you have been there all along.
So tell me a story about true love,
But make every word come true,
Tell me about forever,
And I will tell you about you.
