Roy Batty from Blade Runner in a first alien encounter, shows, in rhyme, the first and most important thing about the Earth to these visitors.

dear traveler from far away

I hope you have not come to stay

for while they might seem light and gay

any gift they give

you will repay

there is always a price, you see

borrowed, lended, but never free

the land, the air, the right to be

can be bought

for a fee

they may be mistaken for the rain

but these tears that fall are full of pain

you may receive but will never gain

only shattered dreams

will remain

sad poetry
