Tea and Honey

A Modern Sonnet

The halo of my golden years

Brings honeyed tea and hope, cookies glimmering with heart.

"Shine your life with love — be yourself," she says,

gifting me dollar bills and cheerful notes.

An adult-child — she doesn't mind.

Always caring because mothers never forget that role.

Her actions are a beacon — guiding me from the shadows.

Still, she slipped away while I slept.

Oh, if I could hold her now.

My heart yearns, flickering with the innocence of a seven-year-old.

In midnight journeys, we're together again— old age no more.

She gives me more than honeyed tea.

I thirst no more; for she blooms with a new beginning.

A timeless homecoming — for nearer to me is she.
