Tatts

A poem

Patchwork tatts

Hiding scars from

A 2 AM bullet hole

Roses in prolific

Abundance like

Dandelions

Growing in

Wild disarray

Like babushka dolls

The more you look

The more you see

Scabs healed over

With time covered

In colored ink

Each stroke

Covering the

Mark of a survivor

While others judge

Him as if he is an

Outcast

Little realizing

His motto was

To serve and

To protect

Come near, sit a spell, and listen to tales of old as I sit and rock by my fire. I'll serve you some cocoa and cookies as I tell you of the time long gone by when your Greats-greats once lived.
