Take a left, building #4

i hate building 4

By Michele NampalliPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

I’ll write you out bit by bit

press hard on the number 5

watch the lead crumble in slow motion-

under a microscope-

at the very tip that I just sharpened

new

a building detonated

bore a hole into the blank lined sheet

my comet

as I smudged the charcoal

drawing it into the shapes of you

your hands

an angular nose

bits of a mouth

that perpetually existed

held so closely to my cracking chest

I broke a plate.

Instead, I stared at that loose leaf

paper- thin

duct taped the hole

slapped a nail through it

and waited.

About the Creator

Michele Nampalli

This space is breath for my sensitivity. The poems come fully formed. I've known for quite some time now that my art is about receiving more than creation...its the most natural way I know to process my inner world. It started when I was 7.
