Take a bow

The show is over, say goodbye

Take a bow

This morning, I asked you for help.

I did not hint, imply or allude,

I was raw and frank and crude.

I’m feeling low I said. Low and alone.

-

You look fine, you said in casual tone,

You’ve been away, your Facebook shows

You smiling in a happy pose.

The sun is out and your loves are near.

But I’m not fine, can you not hear?

You think I want to show the world

That in the sun, I still feel cold?

I’m a victim of my propaganda

To add in shades would be a slander.

Are you calling you a liar?

Can I not be sad, but still a trier?

You are wiser, surely, than to see

And having seen, to just believe

That Instagram’s not wholly true

And people are not smiling through

The hurts they hurt and fears they try

To live with and deceive the eye

Of the beholder. You, my mum. Mostly me.

-

You’re happy though, you have to be,

You have so much! You look at me

And its taboo to disagree.

I have so much, you’re right I say.

The last nail snaps, I turn away.

You should get some help, you tell me now.

Our friendship takes a closing bow,

But I stay seated. I cannot leave.

There’s nowhere else that I can be

And I think that there must be more,

You’ll step back up for our encore.

And say tomorrow, let’s go for coffee.

-

But you never do, so it’s just me.

I needed help, now it’s too dark to see.
