surreal poetry
Surrealist poetry embodies the essence of poetry itself, drawing upon shocking imagery and lyrical incongruities to comment on the inner-workings of the mind.
Dread
I dread this great awakening. Lovely waves of change overtaking my life. Just lovely, right? Lord God. What is going on?

If I give you my heart, Promise it won't be broken, For I am scared, Of the feelings, you've awoken.

A dot on a map, pages of my past with the corners folded, reread and reread and... Revisited, taking the time to touch each flicker of magic more gently each time. Dandelion seeds dancing around me. A grey sky shouting promises of healing. The roads that used to be just bitumen and are now the veins leading to my heart.
Can You Hear?

I refuse to be tempted… I ignore the other side… I disagree with your opinion… I don’t follow anyone… Flickering through my daily sunlight and absorb my energy from morning feed.

I killed a possum tonight; It snuck underneath my tire. I felt its violent last breath from the cab of my car. I wonder if it knew I tried to avoid it.

Saying a prayer, a saving grace Opens up your heart to a whole new place It’s a feeling, an emotion that gets evoked Like a word or a line that you wish you’d wrote See me now I’m sitting here in this place That you left me in, a dungeon that’s caving in Where you opened up this whole new world It’s filled with sticks and it’s filled with stones You took a portrait, a painting and you carved out walls That made no sense, that had no light, it’s just a void It blinding, it’s deafening, it’s straight up hell But you saw me and you took it and you made a fit You had dreams, you had wishes But you had a foetus and you had a choice Now I’m stuck in your nightmare And I’m living this life and I have no choice.
