i was dancing in the lesbian bar
i seem to have grabbed the 50 haikū/senryū in 50 days inspo and have found myself listening to music, contemplating lyrics and counting syllables. thanks to Alyson Smith for the idea (that came to me via Paul Stewart, Sasha Desideri & Harper Lewis…i’m sure there are others that have taken up this challenge - these are the ones that have come across my feed. i’ll link their profiles at the end. do remind me if I forget!

I'm A Bagel
They say I'm too much I know that they're not enough I keep shining bright!!! Today's poem is inspired by Barbra Streisand's I'm the Greatest Star from the movie Funny Girl. If you don't know the movie, my title comes from a line where Fanny (played by Barbra) describes herself as "a bagel on a plate full of onion rolls" when comparing herself to more conventionally attractive women.
