sad poetry
The cathartic nature of poetry makes it one of the best outlets to channel feelings of sadness, emotional turmoil, grief and despair.
Don’t Lose Yourself
I changed my voice to sound like you, i hid my dreams, i shaped my truth. I smiled when i wanted to cry, just to keep you by my side. I bent so small to fit your space, forgot my worth, forgot my place. I wore a mask you loved to see, but lost the person inside of me. Love should not make me feel less, or turn my heart into a guess. If i must fade to make you stay, Then maybe love has lost its way. I choose myself, i stand up tall, no more shrinking, none at all. The right love will let me be, not change, not hide—the real me regardless.
