sad poetry
The cathartic nature of poetry makes it one of the best outlets to channel feelings of sadness, emotional turmoil, grief and despair.
#4
young blood, baby fat we're all dead in the inside lost in solitude ~~~ This haiku is one of the few surviving ones I wrote when I first started to write poetry. (The others got lost on floppy disks and notebooks my mum threw out.) I used to give them numbers as titles, this was the 4th I've ever written.

7 Ways to Evaporate
Stare into the fire too long. Step on a crack (do this after getting cursed by a witch; most witches will do this for free except for witches of the verdant variety—the kind that specialize in hearth & home—she won't curse you unless you break her heart first). Only smile at people who don't smile back, then listen to a sad song. Any sad song will do. I recommend Elliot Smith. Get a degree in the humanities, then spend the next ten years looking for work. Watch your student loans grow. Ivy over a garden wall. Eventually, the amount you owe is more than what you borrowed. (Note: In the end, the amount you owe is always more than what you borrowed.)Burn all of your journals. Do not recycle them. This would be a mistake. Your words might reincarnate and find meaning again as a cardboard box for a litter of kittens, or a bandage wrapped around the knee of a boy who fell off his bike. Get lost in an art museum or an ex's embrace. This will only last a day. But you can always return to what makes you break, and let it happen again. Make someone forget you. This is not as easy as it sounds.

A walk through time
Close your eyes and inhale a deep breath these are your last moments in this life and there are things you don't want to forget Think about the little childhood moments the handful when you were actually carefree think of the wonder in you when seeing a rainbow Your best friend who was like your other half the one who was there through good and bad cherish the laughs, the cries, and every smile Remember the time you felt love at first sight the way your eyes connected and time stilled and the way he held you after your very first fight Then years later he is putting a ring on you all dressed in white and given a forever kiss bubbles blowing with shouts of congratulations Can't forget the never ending night of screams she was a week overdue and staying put even when the doctors induced contractions Hours of feeling the pains and exhaustion anticipation of hearing her first cry of breath then ending up having to have her cut out Lots of tugging and pulling but no more pain they had a white sheet up to block your view the look on your husband's face said it was wise The doctor said he was pulling her out now there was scary silence for several moments then when she finally cried you started too *** These memories replayed by an angel for peace as he smiled and gently grabbed her by the hand she said she was ready and accepted his embrace Her daughter sat next to her in the hospital room wondering what her mother had just seen shedding a tear as her mother's spirit disappeared
