Broken Photographs

Repeat As Needed

I've found that it's not by being quiet

For they'd notice you then

It's by uttering certain statements

I'm fine

I'm good

Nothing much

This bouquet of beige phrases

That get caught by the wind

Blown away in a haze

But to those that they catch on

Who may search for the source

They’ll only ever glimpse you

In the corner of their eye

For to them

You'll never be in focus

They'll see your face fractured

Like a photograph

In a broken picture frame

Nothing quite as it really is
