The last one. Number 50! The reason I chose 50 is part of my ongoing art project, #1in50 . In the UK, that is the number of people living with bipolar disorder. It is a sterile, clinical statistic fitting neatly onto medical charts and mental health factsheets.

Johnny & Mary
I have a goal of 50 days - 50 haikus - responding to 50 different songs. These are songs with lyrics that I feel close to. Number Forty Nine is Johnny & Mary by Robert Palmer. I've kept the two characters central to the poem rather than the using the theme/sense of the lyrics that I usually aim for. There's such a strong narrative between the two it felt onlt right to focus on their story. Number 49.... almost there!
