Sweet & Sour

Orange, the misunderstood and overlooked.

Sweet & Sour

Under pink and purple skies,

That bathed endless green fields,

I wanted for orange sherbert kisses

From girls in lace or leather

From one extreme to the other

Someone who could stand my fire

Kindled in backdrops and alleys

Hid in back rows and bathroom stalls

Even in neon, invisible to cars and passerbys

And in Florida heat, autumn stays evergreen

Barefoot on burning sidewalks, of madness and fear

I counted my steps to find you under orange and red leaves

The sun is setting on this day

That left no room for human touch,

I will search for that sweet and sour color

An orange love, unlike any others.
