Why are your eyes so wide,
Staring at me from across the room?

Why does your head tilt to the side,
When I take great strides toward you?

Why is your ear cocked up just so,
As though you are listening to something I can’t hear?

Why is your mouth agape,
Panting like you are simply expecting?
-
What is it that you think I have?
I don’t have food, or water, or treats.

The only thing I bring with me for you,
Is all the pets, love, and hugs your heart desires.
