And dreams

The sun glinted off of her green eyes making them sparkle. The orange and pink painted sky awed her. As the bright California sunshine dipped lower in the sky palm trees now shrouded in darkness created a beautiful contrast.

A smile sets a curve to her soft lips as she admires the beauty of this natural phenomenon. She wishes she was talented enough to capture the scene on canvas. She would paint it for him.

Her travels continue as darkness sets in. She passes a park and hears the pure joy of a child’s laughter and watches a silvered haired couple walk hand in hand matching each step as if dancing to the tune of the child’s laugh. Her mind drifts to him and the possibilities of a life together. She wonders if he thinks of that too.

As night sets in she stifles a giggle as she remembers a recent conversation with him. The stars start to appear poking holes in the vast blackness. It’s as if a giant blanket is draped over the sky with tiny holes cut in it to let light peak through.

Walking through the front door she imagines what it would be like to come home to him. The comfort of his arms and the smile on his face when he sees her. She settles for the comfort of her couch instead.

As she settles in for the night, her face lights up as his name flashes one her phone screen.
