Summer Sun

Spirits Climb

Sunshine, spirits climb

Brushing pain away

Dark thoughts, of winter nights

And crushing thoughts held at bay

***

Red faces, souls warmed through

Hats on jaunty angles

Sunglasses shade squinting eyes

Wine glasses held by handles

***

Summer laughs, music playing

Smiling at passers-by

Bar-be-que smoke, swimming pool splashes

Happiness in the air

***

Summer is truly the time of year

When pain is washed away

Dark thoughts, of winter nights

And crushing thoughts held at bay
