Summer Getaway With My Love
Friday night, and we pack to- quick!- leave town.
We aren’t the kind to leave undone our work,
Just; it’s been real crazy, gonna meltdown,
The two of us is what I tend to shirk.
-
The road unspools as we drive through the dark.
Giddy, we converse and flee our jailer.
Beneath the full moon, silent, bright, and stark
Giggling, cuddling, sleep; inside our trailer.
-
Morning coffee; finally- just us two.
Afternoon spent together on the boat
Poles and hooks, just us bobbing on the blue
Stress cast away as lazily we float.
_
Time together- so short with days too few.
I won’t forget this getaway with you.
