1 - The Thick of It
Summer sings a mournful hymn
an elegy for the soul -
whose passing on an afternoon
in the thickening heat of June
the funeral bells now toll
Cicadas keen and croak a dirge
in the graveyard of July -
and fallen there in sweltered swoon
collapsed into their stifling tombs
for summer is the season
where all souls come to die
2 - Rebel in the Air
Take up the search for softer days -
the hope of chilling morn
to spark revolt 'gainst Summer's oppressive reign -
stirrings of rebellion whisper in the secret hours
to steal away upon the dewy dawn
fresh promise no longer sticky sweat-stained
but thick and soft and sweet as cooling caramel -
hot hours shorten by seconds
in the nearing of the Autumnal Queen
3 - Golden Hour
This bronze and honeyed hymnal
denotes a tune of leaves
and blows a crisping melody
across the chilling breeze -
The yolky glow of evening
ignites the barren crowns
of sycamore and papered birch
and willow weeping down -
This heaven-fallen fire
glows in the belly of the skies
as Autumn's lullaby descends
a stardust smile surmised.

Oh my! It's giving Whitman, Frost... I was going to pick out some favorite lines but then I'd just be copy/pasting the whole poem. "in the graveyard of July -" might be my favorite, because the narrator POV just punched me in the gut, and "a stardust smile surmised." is chef's KISS of a closing line. Yeah, this is masterful. Now excuse me while I race to smash subscribe.
Thess were so beautiful! My favourite was the third one, Golden Hour!
