a confession

almost baked chocolate chip cookies

candle flickering in the dark

it was the only time i was safe with her.

for a brief second the heart that turned so inward would soften

covers to our chins

we both found a way to reach it

it was the only time i was safe with her.

the only time she understood me, and i understood her.

it was the only time i opened the shell of my tender inner self

while the main character fell in love we would cling to one another

in the fleeting moments of peace where

it was the only time i was safe with her.

if only movies could leek into our lives

i would let that river float me along in bliss

in suspended joy

where i was blissfully unaware of the moon falling

to allow the sun it's stage.

how i wish night was infinite

it was the only time i was safe with her.

lay in a bed of flowers

stare into your lovers eyes

do it again a thousand times so that

i might

pause

here with you

please

it is the only time i am safe with her.

i love these moments. when i am safe with her.
