Subway Garble

Thoughts along the tracks

Trips on the subway are vague,

With vague faces only seen for splits of seconds

Before life moves on,

And if you don’t make that leap

Onto what will be your destination before

Those steel doors close then you're left behind.

And doesn’t that just blow your mind

The way that you could be having an out of body experience

And somebody can ask you if

You want fries with that?

People are too consumed with their own production

To be concerned with the annoying rock in your shoe.

And just for a moment I wish we would all just

Look at a stranger and wonder about them

and understand that their life is as precious as anything.

Do your part for the world and for the strangers

You’ll never know and never get a chance to love.

Perhaps life is simply a contest

Of who can achieve the most happiness,

And through what means it can be attained.

So maybe were all meant to wander the world

And fall in love with the smell of the ocean

And the texture of a warm hand

And the taste of melted chocolate.

And maybe those little instances of bliss

Will be enough to feel fulfilled at the end of this lifetime.
