Stuck in the Fog/Finding the Way

A conversation between my depression and me.

you know why you're here

you know how to get yourself out

you can't see

remove your eyes

you won't need them to get out

you can get new ones on the other side

if you're worth it

forget yourself

you put yourself here

to get out you must unknow yourself

who needs yourself in the dark mist

you know where you are

you're nowhere

why walk aimlessly

sit down a while and wait for the fog to pass

it never will

you cannot

I can

it will happen if I try

I will rest but then push through the fog

with a clear breath of air

I will wander and discover

where I am headed

from this dreary place

I have everything I could need in myself

to guide my way

I know myself

I can see myself and my worth more clearly than you

I can see the path ahead

and the light

I know why I'm here

and I know how to leave it behind

for something better
