I'm stuck
Not because I want to be
For a year and a half now I've been stuck in the same place, the same moments in time
I've tried moving on
But no conversation ignites my mind like the ones we had
No face or smile seem burn as brightly as yours did
Each hand held seems to not be made for mine like yours was
I can replay the night we met,
I was ready to move on from a bad situation
Picking you up, mini-golf, a small diner, Barnes and Noble, fast talking my way past a security guard to get your car back from the lot we left it in, the energy you had, the eyes I could get lost in and yet never feel lost, the question, the answer, the kiss, the ride home feeling the entire time like I wanted to turn the car around and spend not just a night but a week just getting to know you better.
I'm stuck
I don't think I want to be
I think I'm self-sabotaging
You're not a memory now, you're a comparison
And if the person doesn't fit I lose interest
And that's not fair to them
It's not fair to me
So much potential tossed away because I wasn't and probably still am not ready because
I'm stuck
