It was in the bending and stretching
The covering and healing
The speaking and reflection
The absorption of knowledge
Of methods raised
In years and experience,
The ability to withstand
The mistakes made day by day
The changing of courses-
A fortitude built
With little realization
Of what was occurring,
Only moving forward
With mind’s eye on the result,
Remembering days of despair
That pushed towards a reward,
A moment spent under the sun
When the clouds have parted,
A year of growth
After years of stagnation-
It was finding patterns in the maze
And picking through the rot
And sanding away the rust
Until truth was found,
Reliability in the mirror
And not in the being beside-
It was in the mind,
Not the universe-
A reflected state
That built the empire.

I loved this, only the reflection of my mind I fear is not quite so grand. But the reflection of others', frequently astounds me.
Beautiful and inspirational! Well done!
