STOP RUNNING THROUGH ME LIKE MY BLOOD
Running through my veins and wanted our life

STOP RUNNING THROUGH ME LIKE MY BLOOD
Stop running through me like my blood,
reaching every hidden part,
you left my life so long ago,
but never left my heart.
I hear you in the quiet rooms,
I see you in my sleep,
you planted roots inside my soul,
too tangled and too deep.
Stop living underneath my skin,
as though you still belong,
you were the note that broke my heart,
but somehow stayed my song.
I have washed you from my pillows,
I have swept you from the floor,
I have told myself a thousand times,
you cannot hurt me anymore.
But memories are stubborn things,
they never understand,
they walk straight through a locked-up door,
and quietly take my hand.
Stop running through me like my blood,
I need my veins set free,
you had your time inside my life,
now give me back to me.
One day my heart will beat again,
and not because of you,
my blood will carry only me,
and all I’m meant to do.
So take your ghost out of my bones,
your shadow from my head,
I will not keep on loving someone,
who left my spirit for dead.
Stop running through me like my blood,
this heart is mine to mend,
you may have been my deepest wound,
but you will not be my end.
