Step Out of Nostalgia

poetry of static

By Gerry ThibeaultPublished 3 months ago • 1 min read

In the field along the path, I use

daily to walk the dog,

the same path everyday,

he—the dog always excited to go

relentless, there is a tree

it reminds me of Gustav Klimt’s

Tree of Life except it is dead.

It is at the edge and in the backdrop

with the other trees full of green

from a distance on approach

make it look very much alive.

No one knows when a whale falls feast,

the rest of the world around it

comes to life. The human package,

appearance is deeper on the outside

small within its limits on time

I wished some for better song

[time too] walk through the summer

trying to understand the fall,

how simple lines hold all its beauty.
