Standing at the edge staring off into space
Wishing that life wasn’t such a vacuum
Forcing me to take stock of the nothingness before me
Running from oblivion
Back to the safety of sanity
Ignoring the calls coming from the darkness
Knowing that if I were to step off into the chasm
I may never return again
So I fight the summons of nihility
As I fight to keep my balance in a world that has gone mad
** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** ** **
In the land where darkness reigns,
A gulf of emptiness sustains,
A bottomless abyss profound,
Where secrets of the universe are found.
*
I gaze into the depths unknown,
A silent world where time has flown,
A vast canvas, devoid of hue,
A shadowy tapestry, never new.
*
The space reflects my deepest fear,
A mirror to my soul, so clear,
It whispers tales of what could be,
A symphony of echoes haunts me.
*
I search for meaning in its embrace,
A spark of hope, a saving grace,
But all I find are endless nights,
A pit that swallows up the lights.
*
And yet, a strange allure it holds,
A fascination that my heart unfolds,
A vortex pulling me inside,
A journey to the other side.
*
So I surrender to its depths,
And let the void consume my breaths,
For in its darkness, I may find,
A glimpse of truth, a peace of mind.

I took a penny and tossed it into the void before me
I listen forever but never hear it hit the pit’s floor
I strain to make out anything, but there is nothing to see
I can feel the vacuum in my core
*
Making a wish as I stand before the abyss
I close my eyes against the Emptiness
Praying for release to blessed bliss
Stealing myself against the Nothingness
*
I prepare myself to stand firm in rationality
Not allowing myself to be swallowed by oblivion
A fine balance, an aggressive duality
If kept, it gives me the strength to carry on
