A Poem

I want a love that makes me feel like I’m important,
rather than a doormat.

Someone who makes me feel like a winner
even on the days I lose.

A lover who never fights with me
because we see eye to eye
and know when to disagree
and when it’s more important to be supportive
rather than opinionated.

I want a partner, not a dad …
not someone who gets mad
because I don’t do things exactly the way they do.

Someone who understands we’re individuals,
we have different ways of doing things,
but can come together when it’s important…
like two clouds colliding in the sky.

I want someone I can look in the eye
and feel their love,
even on the darkest days
when life blocks the sun’s rays.

As our relationship ebbs and flows like the moon,
I know that we’ll always be
in each other’s arms soon.

Am I asking too much?

The sky’s the limit,
and I want a star.
