Standing Naked In The Rain

Freedom of the body and soul

Standing Naked In The Rain

The sky broke open over me

Cold water running through my hair

I stood alone beneath the storm

Like nobody had left to care

My clothes lay scattered by my feet

Along the road where you walked out

Your words still burned against my skin

Sharp enough to fill with doubt

The thunder rolled across the dark

Like anger shaking through the air

I screamed your name into the night

Only silence answered there

Rain washed mascara down my face

Black rivers falling with my pain

Still nothing ever cleans the hurt

That comes when love turns into blame

Cars passed slowly through the street

Their headlights cutting through the storm

I stood exposed before the world

A shattered soul no longer warm

Every drop became a memory

Every flash showed what we lost

The nights we held each other close

The lies that came with hidden cost

I stayed there till the morning came

Frozen deep beneath my skin

Standing naked in the rain

Trying to wash away where you had been

Now storms arrive and I still feel

That lonely woman drenched in grief

Searching heaven for forgiveness

Begging heartbreak for relief
