Stand by the Cross at Midnight
Praise our lord for our life

Stand by the Cross at Midnight
Stand by the cross at midnight’s hour,
When the world is hushed in darkened power.
The winds cry soft, the stars burn cold,
And silence speaks of tales untold.
The earth is heavy with restless dreams,
Shadows stretch where moonlight gleams.
Footsteps echo, lone and low,
As ancient voices start to grow.
Stand by the cross where sorrow sings,
Where time is bound by broken wings.
The ghosts of prayers still linger near,
Whispered words of love and fear.
A thorn-crowned hope, a wounded grace,
Carved in wood, a sacred place.
Tears once fell where now we tread,
A price was paid, a life was shed.
Stand by the cross when night is deep,
When hearts are lost, when mourners weep.
The sins of ages press like stone,
Yet mercy kneels, yet love atones.
The winds may howl, the storms may break,
The heavens reel, the mountains shake.
But light will rise, the dark will fade,
And death will bow to life remade.
So stand and wait in faith’s embrace,
Feel the fire, the boundless grace.
For dawn will come, the night will cease—
And from the cross shall rise our peace.
Amen
