Stalactites

It is said that stalactites only grow an inch in a million years

How easy it is to read the psalms when they are written

And mine

Still hanging in the air

Endless lines to be continued

within

Into the deep darkness of the void

Inquiring and inquiring

Tens of thousands of drops of sweat chanting into one word

And the words that slip away

Falling down

There is only an echoing sound

All carried away by the dull underground river

It took a long time

Before there is a solid response

Like a fingertip

Dripping on the fingertips

That is the clapping of water droplets with water droplets

The echo of sentence to sentence

But the distance is tens of millions of years

You can feel how shocking it will be when they meet

When the downward stalactites and the slowly

upward stalagmite

When the knowable and the unpredictable in the underworld

In the black hole of time

A light touch!
